- Administers product certification schemes.
- Assesses compliance of products with applicable South Sudan Standards.
- Conducts certification inspections, surveillance activities, and Quality Mark licensing.
- Supports manufacturers in achieving and maintaining compliance with quality and safety requirements.
- Systems Certification Unit
- Provides certification services for management systems based on recognized national and international standards.
- Conducts audits and conformity assessments of quality, food safety, environmental, and other management systems.
- Promotes continual improvement and compliance with certification requirements.
- Export Promotion Unit
- Facilitates the access of South Sudanese products to regional and international markets.
- Supports exporters in meeting standards, technical regulations, and certification requirements of destination markets.
- Promotes quality culture and awareness among producers, processors, and exporters.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to improve market competitiveness and trade opportunities.
In line with the provisions of the National Bureau of Standards Act, 2012, the Department contributes to the Bureau’s mandate by promoting standardization, operating certification programmes, supporting conformity assessment activities, protecting consumers from unsafe and substandard products, and facilitating fair trade through the application of standards and certification systems.
The Department is committed to delivering credible, impartial, and internationally recognized certification services that enhance consumer confidence, support regulatory compliance, facilitate trade, and contribute to the economic development of the Republic of South Sudan.
