Department of Inspections and Quality Assurance

Quality assurance and inspection is responsible for promotion of quality standards, Conformity and Inspection services in the SSNBS, across governmental, private sector and non-governmental organizations in the Republic of South Sudan.

However, the core function of Quality assurance is entirely inspection of goods to ensure they are fit for consumption and use.

 We carry out inspections in market places, warehouses and all entry points across the country.

Quality assurance and inspection management also handles Standards Metrology Development and Standards Regulations for the Republic of South Sudan.

Policy goal: To carryout inspection and quality assurance at the all the sectors throughout South Sudan so as to enhance to safety and quality of products, services, protection of the environment and fairness in trade.

The Department ensures that all the imported goods must meet the required standards according to National Standards SSNBS, regional Standards and International Standards Organization (ISO) rules and regulations. To ensure that its staff are well deployed at all borders or entry points and across the country such as:

MARKET SURVELLANCE

Market surveillance is a frequent activity of Quality assurance and inspection department through out the market to inspect both consumable and non- consumable items in the market to ensure goods are fit for their respective uses. 

The inspectors regularly visit places to check on the storage fitness and hygienic condition of the stored goods by checking of the expiry dates and other requirements.

This inspection is also carried out on the few light factories processing mineral water, beverages, ice, Soap and export goods in South Sudan.

SAMPLING, CODING AND TESTING

At Quality assurance we collect samples for laboratory testing and assess the quality of goods produced or imported into the local markets across the country.

The samples are taken from suspected and sometimes random goods at the entry points and the market.

We then send these samples to SSNBS main lab for quality conformity.

The total numbers of sample are 1500 different parameters
